Our Providers

Christopher Belcher, MD

Dr. Christopher Belcher is a board certified Pediatric Infectious Disease physician from Indianapolis, Indiana. He achieved a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from UCLA with College Honors, and was awarded his M.D. degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He was a resident in pediatrics at Stanford University, and split his pediatric infectious disease fellowship between Washington University in St. Louis and Stanford University.

Dr. Belcher has been in Indianapolis since 2000, as a partner of Infectious Disease of Indiana. There, he is the Director of Pediatric Infectious Disease and the Director of Travel Medicine. He is the Director of Pediatric Infectious Disease at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, where he is also the Infection Prevention Director and Chair of the Quality and Safety Committee.

Mark Bochan, MD, PhD, FIDSA

Dr. Bochan received an MD at Indiana University Medical School while concomitantly finishing his PhD in Immunology. He did his internal medicine training at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis and completed his Infectious Disease fellowship at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. Dr. Bochan is a consultant in infectious disease with Infectious Disease of Indiana, and Director of the St Vincent Outpatient Treatment Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

He is a national speaker on outpatient infusion systems and care integration with recent national publications in health economics as well as co-founder of Outpatient Integrated Strategies, a corporation specializing in Outpatient Care and Transitions. He is the Director of Transplant/VAD Infectious Diseases, and the Chairman of the Department of Infectious Disease at St Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, IN as well as a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Dr. Bochan holds a patent, Pro-Apoptotic Bacterial Vaccines to Enhance Cellular Immune Responses, in the United States and 9 other countries for the development of a novel Mycobacterium tuberculosis vaccine. He has published numerous peer reviewed research manuscripts along with being the principle investigator in many clinical trials. In his spare time he enjoys playing competitive volleyball, refurbishing antique furniture and spending time with his family.

Mary Broadhurst, MPAS, PA-C

Mary Broadhurst is a nationally certified Physician Assistant specializing in Infectious Disease at St. Vincent Hospital.  She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Movement and Sports Science at Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN) and then earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree at Butler University (Indianapolis, IN).  

She is an inductee of the National Honor Society of Physician Assistants, Pi Alpha, and holds her certification through the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants.  Mary has worked with IDI and SVMG since August 2016.

Christopher Bunce, MD

Dr. Bunce graduated from Louisiana State University, then received his M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1989, then a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt in 1991. He joined the medical team of Infectious Disease of Indiana in July of 1991.

Dr. Bunce has specific interests in Infection Prevention, Antibiotic Stewardship, Surgical Site Infections, orthopaedic infections, zoonoses, systemic mycoses, and HIV.

Angela Corea, MD FHM

Dr Angela Corea is board certified in Internal Medicine and obtained her Fellow designation in hospital medicine (FHM) while practicing as a hospitalist leader in her field.  With this expertise, in her current practice she manages patients in all ranges of medical complexity who were recently discharged from the hospital with an infection - further transitioning them back to the outpatient setting.  She also evaluates and treats common severe infectious disease conditions in patients who may require an advanced therapies.

Francisco Delgado, MD

Dr. Francisco Delgado is a board certified Infectious Disease physician.  He was awarded his M.D. degree with Honors from the Universidad La Salle in Mexico City. He was a resident in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, FL and completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Delgado has been in Indianapolis since 2007 as a partner of Infectious Disease of Indiana.  He is the chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Hassan Elmalik, MD

Dr. Hassan Elmalik is a board-certified Infectious Disease physician and a partner of Infectious Disease of Indiana. He's a graduate of Jordan University of Science and Technology, School of Medicine, in 2003. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Interfaith Medical Center in New York City. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine since 2009.

He joined the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City for his Infectious Disease fellowship training and was the chief fellow in the Infectious Disease program. He joined Infectious Disease of Indiana in 2014.

Tracey Ikerd, MD

Dr. Ikerd graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1987, completed an Infectious Disease Fellowship at Ohio State University and an Internal Medicine Residency at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Care Center in Indianapolis. Dr. Ikerd is a trusted medical director of multiple hospital systems and medical organizations in the community.

His leadership roles are broad and involves hospital infection control, steering of pharmacy committees as well as directorship over two highly successful wound clinics. Directorship roles aside, Dr. Ikerd still feels that patient care is a top priority and frequently proclaims “I’ll never leave the bedside”. Dr. Ikerd is currently the senior partner of Infectious Disease of Indiana. He values the role of team work in the complex field of medicine.

Angela Pierce, CPNP

Angela (Angie) Pierce born and raised in Indianapolis Indiana has practiced as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for more than 12 years. Angie received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Evansville in 2001 and practiced as an RN in the pediatric intensive care unit while earning her Master of Science in Nursing and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Indiana University.

Angie has been with IDI and Indiana Travel Medicine Cline since 2012 and enjoys treating and preventing infections in patients of all ages.

Chad Tewell, MD

Dr. Chad Tewell received his BS in microbiology from Indiana University in Bloomington in 2007, and his MD from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2011. He was selected for induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in 2010.

After finishing medical school, Dr. Tewell completed his training in internal medicine at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2014. He subsequently received advanced training in the field of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt and the joined Infectious Disease of Indiana in 2016. Dr. Tewell is board certified from the ABIM in both internal medicine and infectious disease. He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Dr. Tewell’s clinical focus is general infectious disease in adults as well as Hepatitis C treatment.

Dr. Henderson has over 30 years of experience in healthcare with 12 of those years being dedicated to Infectious Disease of Indiana.

Her present role with Infectious Disease of Indiana is the director of operations where she oversees all global content of the organization. Prior to Infectious Disease of Indiana she worked in biological products and held several positions of leadership within that industry. She has a doctorate in management specializing in organizational leadership.
